LOS ENAMORADOS, IBIZA

PANORAMIC VIEW FROM LOS ENAMORADOS ROOFTOP
“Oh, it’s pretty up in the north”, people often say to me about Ibiza. I wonder, have they been to the other Balearics? Aside from the long beaches backed and sand dunes of Formentera, Ibiza’s north is just like the rest of the Balearics – pretty little calas, like those that line the coast of Menorca and Mallorca. However, there is one place up there on the island truly like no other, a destination in its own right, Los Enamoradas. However, there is one place up there on the island truly like no other, a destination in its own right, Los Enamorados.
Los Enamorados has an Ibizan soul, completely unique in its design – an eclectic fusion born from the owners travels and tastes. The hotel has only nine rooms, all beautifully designed in deep pink, tan and burnt orange – contrasted with aquamarine tiles, rust-red 70’s lounge chairs and rattan. Beds are canopied with washed linens, the beds made with Italian sheets and draped with more linens, resulting in pure beauty. “Sleep like a rose” they say, and you really feel like you do. All balconies face the ocean, and the melodic sound of afrobeat’s float up from the restaurant below. A whitewashed rooftop, left almost bare for yoga, has a panoramic view of the bay, it is incredibly beautiful at sunset.

COLOURFUL LOS ENAMORADOS
A table at the restaurant is sought after, it is undoubtedly an idyllic spot to sit and dine. The kitchen serves up freshly caught seafood and organic produce on ochre linen table cloths that sway in the island breeze, laid with colourful ceramic dishes and smoked glassware. In the morning hotel guests are treated to yogurt with house goji berry granola, glazed croissants and eggs “anyway you want”. At lunch seabass ceviche, zucchini carpaccio and prawn tacos are dished out by warm sociable staff who have dream team written on the back of their t-shirts, their smiles suggest they feel lucky to work there. By night the whole place is candlelit and the atmosphere is spot on.
The pristine water of the cala – flanked with fisherman’s huts atop which Los Enamorados sits – is something guests are encouraged to enjoy. Each room has a large woven beach bag with a leather handle for use during your stay, like the one you want to buy on every trip to the Balearics but never fits in your case. The rooms come with snorkelling equipment too. A hut by the water’s edge houses bronze-coloured paddle boards emblazoned in marker pen with Los Enamorados, for guests use whenever, happily retrieved by one of the team. The feel of the place is super relaxed, no one hovers around you, but ask and you can have and do whatever you want.
BEDROOM AND VIEW
Los Enamorados is a riot of colour, a concept that can be somewhat taken home as there is a shop, an emporium of beautiful pieces sourced from all over the world that work in perfect harmony displayed and sold together. Vintage suede shoes sit atop stacks of Taschen books, unusual designer clothes and vibrant kaftans hang intermittently, cool ombré t-shirts are piled here and there, bright red lobster shaped cushions relax on velvet sofas in muted hues – and if you want sunglasses or bikinis that are out of the ordinary, you can buy those too. Due to its success, they have another store in Paris selling similar wares.
ROOMS AND BEACH BAR
This hotel will not be appreciated by everyone, and in fact neither would the restaurant. If your uptight, like to be referred to as sir, or want someone waiting on your beck and call, don’t go. If you appreciate beauty, love the ocean and need to really relax, do. Their slogan is “for the lovers”, lovers of all things super nice?
